Due to the adoption of a sedentary lifestyle, and convenience of technology, we have forgotten how to move. We spend an average of 10 - 12 hours a day sitting down and up to 18 hours a day being inactive. This affects our bodies – causing us chronic pain in our muscles and joints, limiting our mobility, flexibility, and movement.
Self-Myofascial Release (SMR) is an alternative medicine therapy that claims to treat skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.
This workshop will be broken into 2 x 30-minute session – Talk and Hands-on Experience. During the session, you will explore various SMR techniques to counter your “sitting routine”- loosen up knots, release tightness and alleviate pain that has been bothering you.
Attendees are advised to wear pants on that day as there will be some stretching involved.
