At the Grow Asia Hackathon 2019, we invited AgriTech startups, tech innovators and agripreneurs to co-create solutions that help smallholder farmers apply data to improve operations, promote sustainability, and enhance their livelihoods. (See Challenges below.)
We're proud to collaborate with partners like MUFG Bank (including its subsidiary Bank Danamon), Corteva, Ferrero and Enterprise Singapore.
The top five teams from the Jakarta hackathon (29-30 June) and the Singapore hackathon (6-7 July) have been invited to this Pitch Day. Winning teams will win from a pool of SGD18,000 and will be considered for Proof-of-Concept projects with the corporate partners.
Challenges
1. Finance: How might we enable farmers to better manage their money and make sound decisions for sustainable financial outcomes? How might we enable farmers to access more formal and affordable financing through positive transformation of the role that existing intermediaries play?
2. Drones & Smart Irrigation: How might we develop new and scalable ways for farmers to utilise drones and smart irrigation in their farming operations?
3. Traceability & Sustainability: How might we use new technologies such as DNA-based tagging solutions to provide assurance on how the produce has been managed and sourced?
