Grow Asia Hackathon 2019 aims to discover AgriTech startups, tech innovators and agripreneurs to co-create solutions that help smallholder farmers apply data to improve operations, promote sustainability, and enhance their livelihoods.
Grow Asia is an NGO initiated by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with ASEAN to support smallholder farmers in Southeast Asia. Partners for this hackathon include Corteva, MUFG Bank (including its subsidiary Danamon Bank), Ferrero and Enterprise Singapore.
In this Launch Workshop, you can learn more about smallholder farmers, understand the challenge statements from our corporate partners and find out how you can participate in this year's hackathon.
Challenges
1. Finance: How might we enable farmers to better manage their money and make sound decisions for sustainable financial outcomes?
2. Drones & Smart Irrigation: How might we develop new and scalable ways for farmers to utilise drones and smart irrigation in their farming operations?
3. Traceability & Sustainability: How do we use technology in crop protection and harvesting to provide assurances on how the produce has been sourced?
Winning teams at final pitch day will win from a pool of SGD 18,000! Selected teams will have an opportunity to be considered for Proof-of-Concept projects with corporate partners.
